About the Farm
Background
The farm was purchased in 1947 when the land was extremely rural, and the original home site was fenced to protect the yard from free-range cattle. Over the years, much of the surrounding area has developed, but the farm remains an oasis amidst shopping centers and subdivisions. It is still family owned and operated, maintaining its agricultural heritage.
Practices
The farm balances its farming practices with nature, maintaining a mixture of trees, pastures, creeks, and springs. Approximately half of the land is dedicated to sustainable agriculture and open pasture, while the other half is preserved as a conservation wildlife habitat of long-leaf pine trees. The farm raises grass-fed beef, which is born and raised on the farm, given mother's milk and seasonal grasses without grain-feeding. Goats are also pasture-raised, except during rain, and the farm offers goat meat and doelings for sale. Flowers are cultivated seasonally, with anemones, poppies, tulips, zinnias, sunflowers, marigolds, and celosia blooming throughout the year.
The Rest
The farm supplies produce for a CSA (Community Supported Agriculture) Program, individual customers, and local restaurants. Fresh flowers are available locally and seasonally, while dried flowers are shipped as harvests allow. The farm delights in its blooms and strives to bring joy to others through its flowers. Grass-fed beef is available in the fall as a whole or half beef, allowing customers to stock their freezers at a reasonable price for year-round eating. The goats provide full-time entertainment and work, ensuring that life on the farm is never boring.
