About the Farm
Background
Located in Costilla County, Colorado, about 20 miles from the New Mexico state line, Rio Culebra High Mountain Beef is owned by cattle producers who have dedicated themselves to raising superior beef. Known for their commitment to quality, the producers have garnered praise from customers who rave about the tenderness and flavor of the beef.
Practices
The cattle are grass-fed and exceed USDA Grass-Fed Standards. They receive no antibiotics, growth hormones, or GMO feed, and are raised humanely in the mountains and high mountain valley meadows. The diet consists of alfalfa and native grasses. After reaching a weight between 600 to 900 pounds, the cattle are harvested and the carcass is dry-aged to enhance flavor and tenderness.
The Rest
The beef is described by customers as extremely tender and delicious, comparable to veal. Products can be shipped anywhere in the United States and delivered within a 250-mile radius.
