About the Farm
Background
Rice Family Harvest began six years ago when Doug and Nancy Rice took over an abandoned orchard, restoring it to its former vitality. Situated on 34 acres in Oregonia, Ohio, the farm has grown to include a variety of fruits and vegetables, becoming a beloved provider in the community. The farm has expanded its operations to include additional growing space and co-farming more apples and peaches.
Practices
Rice Family Harvest employs integrated pest management techniques, avoiding pesticides by using environmentally and health-friendly products. They work with Ohio State Extension and Conservation offices to implement organic practices, using items approved for organic growers. The farm uses pheromones to disrupt insect mating cycles and targets pests at specific stages of development to grow 'gently.'
The Rest
The farm offers a CSA program with home delivery of half and full bushel boxes on a weekly or biweekly basis. Customers can find Rice Family Harvest at farmers markets in Loveland, Montgomery, Sugarcreek, and Oakwood. The farm is dedicated to providing fresh, quality produce and fostering a connection between the land and the community.
