About the Farm
Background
The farm has been in the family for seven generations, with a history spanning over 204 years. Paul Dalrymple's great-great-great-grandparents bought the first parcel of land over 200 years ago, and it has remained in the family ever since. Paul, inspired by Joel Salatin's 'You Can Farm,' returned to his roots and has been farming at Plaid Piper for eight years.
Practices
The farm raises beef and pork naturally without added antibiotics, hormones, or pesticides. Animals have free access to the outdoors, fresh air, and sunshine, and are provided with species-appropriate feed, natural vitamin/mineral supplements, clean water, shelter from weather, and protection from predators. Grass farming methods are employed to benefit the animals, the land, and the people who consume the food produced.
The Rest
Visitors are encouraged to bring their families for a farm tour, enjoy a picnic, and experience the natural beauty of Sussex County. Tours are available by appointment only. Customers are advised to place orders early in the year as products sell out quickly.
