About the Farm
Background
Pine Stump began with the vision of living in harmony with the land on the Colville Indian Reservation in Okanogan County, about 12 miles east of Omak. Initially, the land was dense with suppressed growth Ponderosa Pine, remnants of logging from the 1930s. Clearing this forest and developing a Timber Management Plan were the first steps in the farm's journey. Over time, they built a barn and integrated horses for pack trips and therapeutic horsemanship, alongside goats for milk, cheese, and meat.
Practices
The farm emphasizes a solid Timber Management Plan to develop resources while protecting the ecosystem. They are a certified organic producer, ensuring their farming methods align with organic standards. The integration of animals like horses and goats into their farming practices highlights their commitment to a holistic approach to land management and animal husbandry.
The Rest
Pine Stump offers a variety of activities including pack trips, therapeutic horsemanship, cultural exchanges, and farm internships. These activities aim to connect people with nature and broaden their horizons. The farm also provides a retreat space for visitors looking to relax and enjoy the natural surroundings.
