Pigeon Roost Farm
About
Pigeon Roost Farm, owned by Ralph and Janice Jutte, was purchased in 1979 and has since become a beloved fall destination for families in central Ohio. The farm's land, part of the Refugee Tract, has a rich history dating back to the Revolutionary War era. Initially started as Jutte's Farm Market to instill a strong work ethic in their children, the farm has grown into a popular entertainment center. The farm's name honors the Passenger Pigeon, once abundant in the area but now extinct.
The farm operates as a working family farm, emphasizing hands-on experiences and educational opportunities for visitors. The land, enriched by the historical presence of Passenger Pigeons, is used to grow thousands of pumpkins and heritage squash. The farm also maintains heritage breeds of turkeys and other barnyard animals, providing a glimpse into traditional farming practices.
Visitors can enjoy a variety of activities at the Great Pumpkin Fun Center, including slides, tunnels, a corn box, and a corn maze. New attractions include Fort Pigeon Roost, giant gerbil wheels, and a mini-maze for kids. The farm also offers food, face painting, and wagon rides on weekends. Special group events can be scheduled, and the farm is open daily from mid-September to October 31. For health and safety reasons, pets and smoking are not allowed, and only credit card payments are accepted.
