About

Facts
300 acres total
Background

Rick Martson transitioned from a trial lawyer to a full-time farmer, raising Scottish Highland Cattle on approximately 300 acres near Molalla, Oregon. The farm includes the historic Bagby and Dickey homesteads and is known for producing lean, flavorful, and tender beef. Highland cattle, the oldest registered breed in the world, have a rich heritage from Scotland, and the farm honors these time-honored traditions.

Practices

The farm raises over 300 head of Scottish Highland Cattle using traditional methods, exclusively feeding them grass, brush, and hay. The cattle are never given sub-therapeutic antibiotics or hormones, allowing them to develop naturally tender and flavorful meat. The beef is processed, packaged, and frozen locally by a USDA facility.

Of note

Customers can purchase beef in quarters, halves, wholes, bundle packages, custom orders, and through a CSA program. Hides and horns are also available. The farm sells at Oregon City Farmers Market on Saturdays and Montavilla Farmers Market on Sundays, offers online ordering with free delivery within 50 miles for orders over $150, and allows farm pick-ups.
