About the Farm

Background

Farm2Market began in 2005 as the Growing Youth Project, initiated by APC youth to address food access and grow healthy food for their community. Over the years, it has evolved into a working farm that employs residents, provides job training, and offers educational volunteer experiences. The farm supports APC's mission through its On-the-Job Training Program, community connections, and hosting volunteers and events.

Practices

Farm2Market operates on 2-acres of vegetable crops, fruit orchards, bee hives, and flowers. Nearly everything is grown from seed, adhering to sustainable practices rooted in permaculture principles and organic methods. The farm strictly avoids chemical pesticides and fertilizers, emphasizing a holistic approach to land stewardship.

The Rest

The farm offers a multi-use space for events, classes, and performances, featuring a stage and a large gathering area. Proceeds from the CSA membership program help sustain APC’s supportive housing community. The farm's mission aligns with APC's broader goals of economic self-sufficiency and health and wellness for its residents.
