About the Farm

Background

Located in east central Minnesota, this hobby farm is named after a favorite apple variety that grows on the property. The farm has gained recognition for its high-quality fleeces, winning top awards at both the local county fair and the Minnesota state fair.

Practices

The farm's spinning flock consists of Targhee, Merino, and cross-bred sheep, selected for wool quality, multiple births, and mild flavor. Ewes are chosen for their milking ability and maternal qualities. During the winter hay season, the sheep are covered to minimize vegetable material in their fleeces, which are then carefully skirted to ensure high quality for hand spinning.

The Rest

The farm focuses on producing a variety of fleece types and maintaining a high standard of wool for hand spinning enthusiasts.
