About the Farm
Background
The farm has grown from providing chickens and ducks for meat and eggs to also offering pasture-raised Berkshire/Tamworth cross pigs. Recently, they have added heritage breed Bourbon Red turkeys for Thanksgiving and Embden geese for Christmas.
Practices
The farm raises birds on pesticide-free grass without any antibiotics, ensuring they are pasture-raised. Laying hens are free-ranging and return at night to roost in moveable 'chicken tractors.' Sustainable practices include rotating the birds throughout the fields to fertilize the land naturally. All processing is done on-site, and the remains are composted.
The Rest
The farm can be found at the Midtown Farmer's Market at North Hills Mall on Saturdays from 8-Noon (April to October) and from 10am to Noon (November to March), as well as at the Downtown Raleigh Market on Fayetteville Street from 10am to 2pm (April to October). Visitors are welcome year-round by scheduling a visit.
