About the Farm
Background
For more than 100 years, the Severson family has been farming in Clarion, Iowa at Grand View Farm and Ranch. In 1996, Troy and Beth Severson began raising Horned Hereford cattle on pasture. In 2017, their son, Knute, and his wife, Amanda, returned to the farm with the goal of bringing their family’s 100% grass-fed beef to consumers.
Practices
The farm employs intensive rotational grazing, moving cattle in small paddocks almost daily from May through October. This practice enhances soil health, captures carbon, increases rainfall absorption, restores wildlife habitat, and leads to healthier cattle. The farm is committed to leaving the soil better than they found it, viewing their role as stewards of God's creation.
The Rest
The farm ships their meat nationwide, using compostable coolers with dry ice to ensure next-day delivery. Customers can also pick up their orders locally in Clarion, IA. The farm offers subscription meat boxes and a variety of other products including chicken and farm-to-table dinners.
