About the Farm
Background
Founded as a registered student organization at Central Michigan University, Campus Grow serves both the CMU campus and the broader Mt. Pleasant community. The initiative began with the goal of providing a space for individuals to cultivate their own food while fostering a sense of community and promoting sustainable agriculture.
Practices
Gardeners at Campus Grow utilize sustainable and organic practices to cultivate their plots. This involves avoiding synthetic fertilizers and pesticides, focusing instead on natural methods to enrich the soil and manage pests. The emphasis is on creating a healthy, self-sustaining ecosystem within the garden.
The Rest
The community garden is inclusive, welcoming participants from both the university and the local community. Additionally, any surplus produce grown in the garden is donated to the local food pantry, supporting those in need and reducing food waste.
