About the Farm

Background

Brookhaven Mill Farm began as the Anderson Farm in 1882 in Guilford County, NC. Over the years, it has passed through several owners, each contributing their own style and improvements. Currently owned by Cheryl Preston, the farm has become a beloved local destination known for its locally-sourced food and gifts, particularly farm-fresh eggs.

Practices

The farm spans over 23 acres, with about half dedicated to fenced pastures for livestock including mini horses, donkeys, goats, and sheep. The farm also features 20 lavender bushes, with plans to expand to 100 bushes. Free-ranging chickens and ducks provide fresh eggs, and the farm emphasizes organic and locally-sourced products. The farm store offers long shelf-life products and seasonal produce, while the Snack Shack provides homemade goodies.

The Rest

Visitors can enjoy a variety of activities, including petting and feeding animals, 'Animal Therapy' sessions, and barnyard birthday parties. The farm also offers a bed and breakfast experience in a historic farmhouse, complete with a country breakfast and opportunities to participate in farm activities. The large Barn Pavilion is available for events such as workshops, reunions, and weddings. Additionally, the farm hosts special events and provides camping facilities.
