About the Farm
Background
Bog Bottom Farm is known for raising two heritage breeds of pigs, the large black and Hereford, which are crossbred to achieve desirable meat qualities, temperament, and pasture vigor.
Practices
Animals are pasture-raised and free to roam, root, and wallow, which contributes to darker red meat and authentic pork flavor. The farm uses feed from a local mill to supplement the pigs' diet. Chickens and turkeys are also pasture-raised, and eggs are produced cage-free.
The Rest
In addition to meat and eggs, the farm produces bar soap using lard, which is naturally moisturizing.
