About

Help plant the Summer Garden at the Stonewall National Monument in the W. Village. Enjoy a few hours of hands-on community, calm, and Pride.

Help plant Christopher Park at the Stonewall National Monument—an international LGBTQ heritage site – No experience necessary!

Every year, tens of thousands of people from around the world make a visit to the Stonewall National Monument part of their trip to New York City. The efforts of a few volunteers help ensure a vibrant park for visitors and city dwellers alike.

No gardening experience needed. We provide tools, guidance, and great company—just wear clothes you don’t mind getting dirty.

Connect with fellow community-minded volunteers, including the Christopher Park Alliance and members of the Stonewall Society (NYC Parks’ LGBTQ employee group). The monument’s gardens are maintained entirely by volunteers.

Join us anytime between 10:00 AM – 3:00 PM (or until planting is complete). Stay for an hour or the whole day—whatever works for you.

Let's plant the Summer Pride Garden!

  • No gardening experience is required. Good-spirited novices are welcome.
  • Wear loose-fitting clothes that you can get dirty. Tools and gloves are provided.
  • Snacks and beverages provided. At the end of planting, we will have pizza.
  • Stay as long as you want, ideally for 2 hours or more.
  • Sunday is the rain date. Agreeing to Saturday does not obligate you to Sunday.
