Mourning Tour of Wade H. Jones Sr. House by Candlelight

Join us for a Candlelight Mourning Tour of the Wade H. Jones Sr. House located on Sugar Mill Fields,a cut flower and Christmas Tree Farm, in Lecompte, Louisiana. Enjoy an evening of 18th and 19th Century Louisiana burial customs, rituals, and traditions of how these generations honored their loved ones. Homes then were the center of all activities, surrounding a death. This is a unique evening, as the house will be dressed in “full deep mourning,” and other erie Louisiana Folklore will be discussed as we kick off spooky season. Lea’s Lunchroom famous homemade pies will be served while you have your questions answered by a New Orleans mortician. Reservations required as there will be no door sales, and 12 and up please.
